'From the moment we realise the independence of ourselves, the moment we understand that the person in the mirror means nothing else but the uniqueness of our being, that is when the question is born that will follow us for the rest of our lives: “who am I?”. A question that when the time goes by, it is enriched with personal and social experiences, with the consequence of abandoning its regional character and subjecting it to past futuristic and hypothetical interpretations. Therefore, it becomes complicated and inaccessible to its own creator, and at the same time seductive and inscrutable. That way, it becomes part of the answer that the creator is looking for. The purpose of this festival is, with the art of photography, to investigate the ways that personal and collective identity is built. To disclose the conditions which family, social and historical background, form the individual as an independent unit but also as part of a wider set. Therefore, it aims to highlight the crucial importance of concepts such as mutual respect, acceptance and solidarity in the shaping of human relationships and situations.' - Christos Sotiropoulos
